Thank you for joining us here at The Corporate Escapists. Please introduce yourself to our reader. They love to know about you, your passion, and how you came to find and follow your passion.
For many years I have been working with teenagers. I was a specialist child interviewer in the WA Police which meant I interviewed children on sexual and physical assaults. This was the time in my life where I realised my passion was working with teens and that this area was in need of much help and education. I moved on and many years later I become a Driving Instructor. The anxiety, low self esteem, self doubt was the worst I had ever experienced. At that point I knew I had the knowledge and experience and become a NLP Teen Confidence Coach. Working with parents and teens is amazing and the transformations are unbelievable. This makes my heart full and my goal is to change not only the teens life but the family dynamic.
Bob Proctor once quoted ‘To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all. But to believe in the unseen is both a triumph and a blessing”. How important is it to you to have the belief within one’s self?
We place so much importance on physical activity, eating well, putting time into friends and family, however when do we take time out for our mindset. Self reflecting, breathing exercises, positive personal routines are equally as important and this will not only develop your health but will increase your self worth, confidence and to have a positive mindset.
Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?
Entrepreneur to me is a very empowering word. To take a risk, go through the highs and the lows and still continue with your goal and endeavour shows not only resilience but strength. It is very easy to give up when things aren’t going right but you will see the entrepreneur implement a positive mindset and strive forward. Entrepreneur equals courage.
What has been one of the biggest business ideas you have had and how did you have the trust and hope within yourself to implement it?
As a Teen Confidence Coach I am developing an online course which commence in January and will have the ultimate support for Teens and Parents. My goal is to reach as many families as I can because at the moment the mental health system is not keeping up with the number of teens needing assistance. With anxiety at a high, low self esteem and many other problems teens are experiencing they need someone to lean on and my online course which includes weekly group check ins, a private group to speak to myself and other group members, plus the content within the program, it is going to be life changing to families.
Running your own business can be scary. Success requires moments of trust and hope to push through to the next level. Tell us one of the moments you have had to push through to take your business to the next level?
I had my own driving school which was so busy however after coming across many teens that were struggling I wanted to help them further. Closing down this business and then studying and opening up Raising Mindsets as a Teen Confidence Coach was scary and overwhelming at times. I am a single mother who financially supports my 3 children so dropping a good wage to follow my passion was a easy decision mentally but hard financially. I have always believed that following your dreams, perceptions projection and hard work pays off which it is doing! The biggest lesson I have learnt that in your business low times is the time to reflect and DON’T QUIT.
What is your favourite quote about inspiration?
You have two lives. The second one begins when you realise you only have one.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
Be organised and plan and have like minded people around you because you will need them in the ups and the downs. Write your business goals, personal goals, financial goals, what the business needs from you (eg. are you going to miss family time, communicate what is needed from your partner) and especially what the financial requirements are needed to start the business (do you need to keep working another job until the business is up and running etc.)
