The girl with a big heart and a massive vision!
Rosie, the founder of Embrace was given a vision at a very young age.
She always knew that it was part of her destiny to create an environment of love, peace, harmony, and beauty that would be shared by many.
Rosie comes from a place of authenticity, courage, and wisdom on a mission to transform lives for the better in a dynamic environment motivated by passion, unity, friendship, and a spirit of adventure. The energetic spiritual entrepreneur is a true believer in the sacred feminine. With the roar of a lioness, she is a hopeless romantic, living in a world of make-believe, fantasy, humour & love.
Embrace is that world! Born with an incredible psychic gift that can communicate with spirits, Rosie has always blamed “it” on the gypsy in her soul. A free spirit with a sense of adventure and an attitude for fun, her style has always been quirky & cheeky mixed in with a whole lot of passion & love. Although Rosie claims to be still stuck in a time warp of the ’80s her youthful attitude has granted her popularity amongst the millennials, teenagers, and her favourite of all humans.. the children!
Embrace’s success has a lot to do with Rosie’s down-to-earth attitude and easy approach style. With a background in paranormal psychology, strong psychic ability, and great passion, Rosie has forged a highly successful psychic career leading up to launching Embrace in 2010.
Embrace is a place of beauty and wonder, spiritual awareness, love, and peace. Rosie’s main aim was to bring people together through all walks of life as equals. Through fun, joy, and laughter she has managed to do this beautifully, creatively, and exquisitely.
Inspired by her favourite song “Imagine” by John Lennon, Embrace became that world. Recognised as an inspirational entrepreneur, she is also the founder of the wildly successful Santa’s Little Painter’s franchise which opened in the early 90s. Specialising in intricately hand-painted Christmas ornaments with seasonal pop-up shops throughout the country the phenomenon of the business quickly became a huge success. She has dubbed herself “the woman with balls” in both the Christmas balls and crystal ball worlds.
Rosie is an internationally acclaimed author and the runner-up in the “Best First Work for an Author” by the International Tarot Foundation known as the CARTA awards. She has been featured in The Huffington Post and published in Successful Women in Business. She has also co-authored The Wellbeing Book and a coffee table book The book of Inspiration for Women, which includes writings by inspirational women from all over the world. As a regular on Sharina Star’s Psychic Encounters on 2UE each Sunday night Rosie quickly became known across Australia as one of the countries favourite psychics and she acknowledges with much pride her mentor, teacher, and friend Sharina Star for her foot in the door of radio land. She has also been featured on Smooth FM and various other radio stations across Australia and the US.
In 2014 Rosie and her husband Ross founded the widely successful “Festival of Dreams” a three-year project at the Hordern Pavilion in the heart of Sydney’s city. It was here where Rosie found international recognition working alongside Hollywood movie stars, Native American chiefs, our countries Indigenous elders, and well-known inspirational speakers. The festival gathered over 100 exhibitors in the mind, body, and spirit fields, with high-profile speakers, 1000’s of visitors, and the most acclaimed psychics, healers, practitioners, and speakers from around the globe.
It was in 2017 when Embrace and Rosie joined forces in Embracing Rosie, an award-winning charming, funny, and completely unscripted eight-part reality show. Embracing Rosie gave us all an insight into the life of Rosie, Ross, their family life, and her beloved Embrace. In 2021 Rosie caused a whole heap of controversy in her tell-all book, THE DARK SIDE OF THE LIGHT. It is here where she exposes the juicy gossip about the fakes & frauds of the psychic industry. Rosie lives in Sydney with her partner Ross, her twins Joey and Ellie, and her four step-children. She is a mother, lover, daughter, sister, friend, entrepreneur, teacher, writer, artist, visionary, dreamer, and believer. She loves helping people connect with their best self and explore their spirituality.
Rosie is sharing her inspiring and empowering story with us.
Thank you for joining us here at The Corporate Escapists. Please introduce yourself to our readers. They would love to know about you, your passion, and how you came to find and follow your passion.
I am Rosie a natural-born psychic. Ever since I was a little girl I have always had a fascination with crystals, magic & everything mysterious & spiritual. It only seemed natural that I was to move in this direction as a career. I started as a professional psychic 30 years ago until 2010 when I opened the doors of Embrace in Westfield Miranda.
Embrace is my baby, a crystal store that also offers online psychic readings. I don’t do the readings myself anymore as life has me too busy, but my readers are amazing. I went from 20 readers down to 5 over the years as it took me some time to weed out the fakes and phones, frauds & charletons to the real deal psychics. Unfortunately, our industry is fraught with fakes and BS so last year I found it only fitting to write a book THE DARK SIDE OF THE LIGHT. I delve into the 30 years working in the spiritual industry which I can tell you right now… it ain’t so spiritual!
I spill the beans on the bullies, backstabbing, gossip & tricks of the trade from others who you truly would believe that butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths. My book has been extremely controversial & lost me some friends in the field but I knew that those who shouted the loudest would have the most to hide. Sadly, the gurus & celebrity psychics seem to the be fakest out of the lot.
People thought that my book would be detrimental to my career & my psychics but it has done the opposite, as people now trust in what I have to say. After all, I only write from my own experience and everything is my total truth.
Other than that, I love what I do, working with the energy of the crystals and helping so many people find their path in life. My work is so rewarding and I know that in order for me to walk my talk and live with integrity my words in the book needed to be said. For that, I can sleep at night and wake up the next morning not being able to wait to get to work.
On top of all of this, this field has given me a lifestyle that only a multi-million dollar can give. I make money doing something I love, helping people & feeling good for it.
As a successful entrepreneur please share your viewpoint if you believe that entrepreneurs are born or made?
I believe entrepreneurs are both. Just like some players of certain sports are naturally gifted and some have to train to be in the elite squad. I have managed to operate two very successful multi million dollar businesses over the past 25 years, and I still do things the old fashion way. I learnt business from my father, uncle & grandfather but I also had a burning passion to be successful doing something I loved. To be successful you need to have the passion, you can’t be lazy & you need to be able to work 7 days a week without it bothering you. If you can’t do those things, then you are not a born entrepreneur.
Nelson Mandela once quoted – ‘I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.’ What has been one fear you have overcome?
My biggest fear that I had to overcome was the fear of not being liked. It hit me especially hard when I became a boss. Once the lesson kept repeating itself in my life I knew it would keep on doing so until I overcame this fear. I feel that it still there deep down, but I have managed to navigate it differently and remind myself that I must do what is best for my business and not take anything personally!
The book THE FOUR AGREEMENTS by Don Miguel Ruiz has really helped me master this fear and learn how to deal with it.
Tell us what the word “empower” means to you?
“Empower” means to me …. freedom! Having money to do the things I want to do and knowing that I will be OK financially in the future with our without my husband by my side. It is also a sense of having control of my life and knowing that for things to change for the better that only I can make that happen. In my younger days I would turn to others for their advice, now I only turn to me, to my inner wisdom to find the answers.
I knew that I was fully empowered when I remembered that I had my ruby red slippers on and all I had to do was click my heels three times to manifest the life of my dreams.
What has been one of the biggest business ideas you have had and how did you have the courage to implement it?
Even though I have a business selling crystals I also own SANTA’S LITTLE PAINTERS which specialises in personalised christmas decorations and baubles. This idea came to me in a dream one night where a lady dressed all in white told me that I needed to do a pop up stand in our local shopping centre. At the time I had not a cent to my name, however, I used my $5000 credit on my card and went for it. It was my intuition burning deep in my gut that gave me the courage and the woman in my dream. There was no second guessing this, as the knowing was too strong. This business only runs for two months of the year and has earned me more money in those two months than most people would earn in a year. So basically, I have two very successful businesses in the field of balls… Christmas balls and Crystal Balls 🙂 I guess you can say I literally had balls to implement them. 🙂
Running your own business can be scary. Success requires moments of courage to push through to the next level, please tell us one of the moments you have had to push through to take your business to the next level?
For the past 10 years, I had been playing with the idea of taking my business online. I really didn’t give it much attention as I was too focused on the retail side of things in my store. However, covid really put a change to that. In our first lockdown I was forced to get my online shop looking amazing and was given that time during the lockdown to do so. By the time our second lockdown came about, we were so busy that we had to refund people as the orders kept flowing and we didn’t have the people power to help fulfull them. I was so overwhelmed but I thank covid for where we are now online. It has been the best thing for our business and I cant even begin to tell you how grateful I am, especially knowing that during this time other business’s were really suffering. All of the sudded everybody wanted a crystal or a psychic reading to help them feel good and give them some hope for the future. I was forced to push the online during this time because we still had to pay our rent to Westfield even though our shopping centre had been closed for many months. 🙁
Tell us what attributes you feel make a good leader in business today?
Empathy and the ability to work out different people’s personalities. I walk my talk and my staff can see that. I also make sure that I stay humble and keep some fun in our work place. In a funny sort of a way, I am like the mother and my staff are like my kids, each with their own personalities and idiosynchrosies. Whenever there is a problem amongst the girls I put a stop to it immediately. For my line of work, being a good leader is just like being a good mother and a tough one at that.
What is your favourite quote about empowerment?
“I am not lucky… I deserve it” – Margaret Thatcher
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
Be prepared to work many years with no pay cheque, no overtime, sick or holiday pay. Make sure you are well prepared for the long long hours, the friends you will lose along the way and most importantly stand tall in the field of poppies! Oh, and don’t forget to have your crystals with you in your cash register, by your computer, on your work desk and in your pocket!
What would be one (1) question you would you ask the person who most inspires you? Also share with us about this person and why they inspire you?
My 84 year old friend Helen. She was one of the inspirations for my book THE DARK SIDE OF THE LIGHT” and one of the main characters in it.
Helen inspires me because even though our age difference is big, she never had children and took me on as her adopted grand daughter. Helen lived a life that you see in the movies and whenever I talk with her about her younger years, I feel like I am watching an old fashion movie. Her life was one where she travelled the world, had loads of boyfriends and was courted, wined, dined whilst staying single and independent. She earned her own money & went against tradition of the times to be a strong woman who didnt need a man to be successful. I think I have asked her every quesion possible, however, I have always wondered if she secretly regretted not having children. At 84 she is fit, healthy, looks great and dresses trendy so something tells me that maybe she has no regrets.
