I am Monique Jeremiah the daring entrepreneur and commercial model behind Gold Coast born modelling agency, Diversity Models. Prior to modelling I enjoyed a 13-year career in business training and entrepreneurship in the recruitment industry. Instinctively I always knew my dream was to work in fashion, beauty and on camera.
Bob Proctor once quoted ‘To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all. But to believe in the unseen is both a triumph and a blessing”. How important is it to you to have the belief within one’s self?
To me the most important element of one’s success is the ability to believe in oneself when no one else believes in you at the very start. Hence the skills of practising daily self-motivation, nurturing one’s self-confidence and demonstrating resilience is what will push anyone to start and grow.
Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?
To me being a true entrepreneur simply means being an unapologetic game changer who is fully committed and always follows their heart to make a great impact in society through business. With no fears and no rules they are self-sufficient and intentionally break expectations to achieve their dreams and goals.
What has been one of the biggest business ideas you have had and how did you have the trust and hope within yourself to implement it?
My biggest idea and entrepreneurial risk I’ve ever taken has been starting Diversity Models spontaneously. Whilst modelling, many clients and a few friends asked me whether I ran a modelling agency because of my undeniable passion and commercial acumen. Once they saw my potential, I fearlessly saw the opportunity myself.
Running your own business can be scary. Success requires moments of trust and hope to push through to the next level. Tell us one of the moments you have had to push through to take your business to the next level?
More than anything building Diversity Models has required me to work long days and longer hours than ever before in my career and everyday without fail. However, I have always believed that passion and persistence are the keys to success.
What is your favourite quote about inspiration?
My own life motto is passion and persistence are the keys to success! I’ve applied this in all of my business pursuits over the years and it has worked.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
My advice would be, have unquestionable faith in yourself and build a strong and loyal team and love your team like family! Success is a team effort!
