Thank you for joining us here at The Corporate Escapists. Please introduce yourself to our reader. They love to know about you, your passion, and how you came to find and follow your passion.
In retained executive search, I built and ran a team that found/engaged candidates for our searches. I launched a career document/job search support business and love the impact I have on clients’ lives.
Oprah once quoted ‘You are where you are in your life, based on what you believe. If you’re not looking at the shadows, what is subconsciously telling yourself you’re not good enough, not worthy enough, not smart enough…you’re not enough, you end up acting out of THAT belief system, and not of what you want to be the truest for yourself.””. How important is it to you to have the belief within ones self?
It is literally everything. We have to prioritize connecting with ourselves, our inner child, and healing trauma by validating and loving ourselves unconditionally.
Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?
First-word association: Freedom. Why? Owning this business has allowed me to set my own schedule, prioritize my children, and allow us a comfortable lifestyle. I am not enslaved to the corporate 9-5. That’s freedom.
How has the life of being an entrepreneur, changed you?
It is my priority – right there with parenting/my children. Daily, I: Start each day with gratitude/stretch my body; yoga; meditation; healthy food; essential oils; reiki energy work; connecting with intuition; thanking my body.
Share you thoughts on the importance of business owners to be a leader in their own life and ensure they have a work/life balance?
I can attest to how easily burnout can sneak up on you. It is vital, especially as women, that we don’t try to do it all.
What is your favourite quote about “following your dreams”?
Everything is not what it seems; this life is but a dream; shatter illusions that hold your spirit down; open up your heart + you will find love all around; breathing and moving are healing and soothing away all the pain in life holding you down
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
Do it! And if you fail, take those lessons and do try again. I had a big false-start/failure business before this one. I learned several hard, yet valuable lessons.
