Carina Gerrelli – Taking A Chance On Yourself

Categories: Business, Inspiration

Nine years ago, a friend of a friend asked me to build a website for her business. Within six months the website appeared at the top of Google in 2 locations and she reported that she was now consistently fully booked. This gave me the courage to go freelance.

Oprah once quoted ‘You’ve got to follow your passion – You’ve got to figure out what it is you love – who you really are. And have the courage to do that. I believe that the only courage anybody ever needs is the courage to follow your own dreams.” Please share, how you had the courage to follow your own dreams.

Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?

What has been the biggest lesson you have learned from being an entrepreneur?

Pushing through fear is SO uncomfortable, but soon it’s normalised if you persist and remain consistent. Sometimes things don’t work out the way you expect, however I think it always happens for the best, even if you can’t see it now.

What inspired you to start your own business, and how did you go about identifying a need in the market that your business could address?

The huge desire I had to be location independent. Luckily for me, I was able to validate my offering straight away so went with that. Since then, I have refined my offering by experimenting with different approaches which took time and patience.

What is your favourite quote about “following your dreams”?

I did it, I am doing it and I will continue to do it until that which I’ve done is perfectly externalised within my world – Neville Goddard

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?

You’re never going to feel ready. You’re going to have a lot of sleepless nights and you will start to doubt whether this path is really for you. But don’t give up. It may take some time, but success only comes to those who don’t give up.
