Ex corporate guy that realised life was too short to stay in a shitty situation and be a poor version of myself.
Thank you for joining us here at The Corporate Escapists. Please introduce yourself to our reader. They love to know about you, your passion, and how you came to find and follow your passion.
I’ m a Behaviour Strategist -Leadership, Life Impact coach, author, Ultra runner and Founder of ‘Dawn of Legacy’.
At the start of 2020 I walked away from high paying corporate roles in places such as LVMH (brands such as Moet & Chandon and Dom Perignon) and Melbourne United due to stress, anxiety and fearing what I was becoming, my ah ha moment was me being an emotional mess at the dinner table with my wife and new born child…then COVID hit the world.
After putting my life into perspective, focusing on my family, I am now a full-time coach
Oprah once quoted ‘You are where you are in your life, based on what you believe. If you’re not looking at the shadows, what is subconsciously telling yourself you’re not good enough, not worthy enough, not smart enough…you’re not enough, you end up acting out of THAT belief system, and not of what you want to be the truest for yourself.””. How important is it to you to have the belief within ones self?
It is the most important trait someone needs in life. Without belief in ourselves, without understanding we are enough as we are right now…all the skills in the world will never be used to the highest of levels. The hardest part for many people is to see past the years of built up images and words they have created about themselves.
Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?
A person who sees an opportunity, creates their own product/business or venture in order to create an income.
How has the life of being an entrepreneur, changed you?
It has given me great flexibility in life to focus on what matters most, it has given me the opportunity to work on projects I can deeply about and choose were my focus is. As with every coin there is 2 sides and being an entrepreneur has also given plenty of uncertainty, which is some everyone should be mindful of.
Share you thoughts on the importance of business owners to be a leader in their own life and ensure they have a work/life balance?
I truly believe that everything has a season and life is like the metal ball pendulums that you see in movies from the 90’s. Sometimes parts of life gain momentum and take over and others might be a little slower and off to the side. Our role in life is to make sure we are not dropping the most important areas of life and sacrificing them. To think everything will be smooth sailing and balanced 100% of the time is most likely setting ones self up for frustration. Clarity on importance and aspirations can certainly help.
What is your favourite quote about “following your dreams”?
“A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams.”
– John Barrymore
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
Be crystal clear as to why you want to do this understand what you will tell yourself when you feel like its failing, what you will tell yourself when you are tired. Define what success & important metrics looks like over the first 2 years. Celebrate and love the journey.
