Bron Williams – Plugging women back into their power.

Categories: Business, Inspiration
As a woman in leadership across the fields of education and non-profit for more than 30 years, Bron Williams has taught a multi-grade classroom, led a school, run a Salvation Army church and welfare centre, and worked with asylum seekers on Nauru. It was working with asylum seekers and alongside Pacific Islanders that alerted Bron to her own latent bias of racism and she understood her white privilege for the first time.

In her personal life, Bron has shattered family and cultural expectations around what a woman should do, challenged societal norms about what ageing looks like, and reformed and reshaped her career not once but twice. She knows it takes courage to let go of long-held beliefs that hold us back, to lead from behind when leadership is not recognised, and to set up and run businesses in fresh ways. Bron is a trained educator, holds an honours degree in Theology and is currently undertaking PhD research exploring the intersection of bias and shame.

In this 3rd act of my life, I am drawing together decades of knowledge, experience and insight to help women plug back into their power, because too often life and expectations make women forget that they are truly powerful.
Bob Proctor once quoted ‘To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all. But to believe in the unseen is both a triumph and a blessing”. How important is it to you to have the belief within one’s self?

Our true power lies within. We can be leaders from wherever we are – even if we don’t have positional authority.
Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?

What has been one of the biggest business ideas you have had and how did you have the trust and hope within yourself to implement it?

Running your own business can be scary.  Success requires moments of trust and hope to push through to the next level. Tell us one of the moments you have had to push through to take your business to the next level?

This whole year as I have been in the cocoon. Trusting that I would emerge a butterfly, but not knowing if that was true or what I would like.
What is your favourite quote about inspiration?

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?

I face new things with this advice given me when I was a new mother: “Start out as you mean to continue.” I face big things with this: “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”
