I’m Matt Little, an Australian entrepreneur and co-owner at Damien McEvoy Plumbing. I started my career as a plumber and learned the ins and outs of the trade from the ground up. Over the years, I honed my skills in running a successful business and become a leading plumbing industry.
Oprah once quoted ‘You’ve got to follow your passion – You’ve got to figure out what it is you love – who you really are. And have the courage to do that. I believe that the only courage anybody ever needs is the courage to follow your own dreams.” Please share, how you had the courage to follow your own dreams.

Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?

To me, an entrepreneur is someone who identifies a need or opportunity in the market and takes the initiative to create a business or organization to meet that need or capitalize on that opportunity. They are willing to take risks, innovate, and persevere in the pursuit of their goals.
What has been the biggest lesson you have learned from being an entrepreneur?

As an entrepreneur, the biggest lesson I have learned is the importance of resilience and adaptability. Business success is not a linear path, and setbacks and failures are inevitable. However, it’s crucial to remain flexible and adjust your strategies as needed to overcome obstacles and ultimately achieve your goals.

What inspired you to start your own business, and how did you go about identifying a need in the market that your business could address?

I was inspired to start my own business because I wanted to pursue my passion for innovation while providing valuable services to customers. I identified a need in the market by conducting market research and studying industry trends to develop a unique value proposition that addresses gaps in the market.
What is your favourite quote about “following your dreams”?

My favorite quote about following your dreams is by Walt Disney: “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” This quote speaks to the importance of persistence and determination in achieving your goals and reminds us that anything is possible if we have the courage to chase our dreams.

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?

My advice to anyone wanting to start their own business is to start small, stay focused, and be prepared to put in the hard work required to succeed. It’s important to research your market and develop a solid business plan. Remember that failure is inevitable, but with persistence, and perseverance, success is achievable.
