Thank you for joining us here at The Corporate Escapists. Please introduce yourself to our reader. They love to know about you, your passion, and how you came to find and follow your passion.
My background is diverse, from being a Recreation Officer in a psychiatric hospital to corporate roles, to being a CEO; I’ve worked at every level of organisations; lived in many cities and diverse countries. All this positions me perfectly to help all middle managers be engaged, confident and productive leaders.
Bob Proctor once quoted ‘To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all. But to believe in the unseen is both a triumph and a blessing”. How important is it to you to have the belief within one’s self?
Without belief action, confidence and achievement are practically non-existent. Why bother if you don’t believe? Self-belief is a fundamental to confidence. When I believe in myself – I can work things out, access help, learn how to do something – I achieve almost anything. I may fail sometimes, that’s learning!
Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?
Risk taker! Someone who turns dreams into solid ideas and then turns those ideas into reality.
What has been one of the biggest business ideas you have had and how did you have the trust and hope within yourself to implement it?
I launched the world’s first global Middle Manager Online Muster! I’ve never done anything like this before, or at this scale, but I knew, deep in my knees, that this was something this group of people needed. Having been a middle manager it was something I would’ve truly benefitted from.
Running your own business can be scary. Success requires moments of trust and hope to push through to the next level. Tell us one of the moments you have had to push through to take your business to the next level?
One of those moments is the Muster I mentioned above, but additionally, I see the investment in myself as taking my business to the next level. When I invest in being a better speaker, author, mentor I know I deliver even better outcomes that put me on ‘bigger stages’.
What is your favourite quote about inspiration?
“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” Zig Ziglar.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
Take advice from those who have walked the path ahead of you. Ignore the well-intended love (aka bad advice) of those who don’t understand you are pursuing your dream. Read, learn, plan: never stop learning and never stop trying. Fail quickly and quietly and then get on with it.
