Dhruvi Halai – Creating A Ayurvedic-Inspired Skincare Brand

My name is Dhruvi Halai and I am the founder of Kaira Beauty. I have loved everything related to beauty since I was quite young so that’s where my passion came from.

Oprah once quoted ‘You’ve got to follow your passion – You’ve got to figure out what it is you love – who you really are. And have the courage to do that. I believe that the only courage anybody ever needs is the courage to follow your own dreams.” Please share, how you had the courage to follow your own dreams.

Tell us what the word “Entrepreneur” means to you?

What has been the biggest lesson you have learned from being an entrepreneur?

Failure does not mean that we need to quit. We learn from failing and making mistakes. We will hit roadblocks and this should not stop us from continuing. Instead, use it as a learning curve and think about what we can do going forward. Always think “Ok what can I do now to solve this issue”.

What inspired you to start your own business, and how did you go about identifying a need in the market that your business could address?

Growing up, I did not see the South Asian culture and heritage represented in the beauty and skincare industries. I got introduced to Ayurvedic beauty at a young age and would use chickpea flour, Tumeric and yoghurt on my face a lot and I saw a huge difference in my skin. Indian herbs are very powerful ingredients that can transform our skin. I wanted to put a modern twist to this by combing them with active ingredients.

What is your favourite quote about “following your dreams”?

“The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.” – Oprah

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?

Just do it. It is not easy but just give it a go and you will learn so much along the way. I definitely learnt so much and those lessons will stay with me forever. Most importantly, don’t worry about the nasty comments that people make about your business because you will have a lot of haters who you need to ignore.
